Responsibilities

Linguists interpret oral communication from English to Chinese (and vice versa) and may attend interpreter forums including meetings, conferences, briefings, training, military operations, and intelligence and operations support. Translate written, electronic and multi-media material from English to Chinese (and vice versa). The written and electronic media can include: business, legal, medical and technical documents, audio and video. Linguist services also include formatting, proofreading, text adaptation, editing, data entry (database population) and word processing.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in the Intelligence Community
  • Language expertise: Chinese 
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in Chinese and English and perform at Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) Level 4 or above in listening, reading, speaking, and writing in those languages
  • BA/BS Degree required
  • Active TS/SCI with polygraph required

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MA/MS Degree
  • Experience with counterintelligence and/or counterterrorism analysis
