    Responsibilities

    Job Responsibilities:

    The candidate’s general tasks include providing support, analyze and administration of server, switch and router based, multi-user functional business applications and services used to monitor enterprise systems, capacity planning, design applications according to system owner requirements and deliver services. The Monitoring and Applications Support Specialist is expected to provide monitoring, alerting, and reporting capabilities to the Network Services team and ensure physical and virtual server-based hardware and applications achieve peak performance, identify hardware / application trends and problems. Ensure applications and hardware is maintained in a manner supporting superior delivery of services across multiple platforms. Ensure appropriate contingency procedures are in place for applications and that they are regularly tested. Ensure applications and related services are documented and kept current. Keep informed of technical developments of importance and participate in developing or setting standards. Manage change control for designated systems. Continuous understanding of the business processes the systems support.

     

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Manage Solarwinds Network Performance Monitor configuration and operations
    • Provisioning and upgrading Windows OS Servers for system owners
    • Oversees the day-to-day monitoring and management of IT services
    • Apply system analysis tools and techniques to resolve identified issues
    • Provide ongoing support and serve as an escalation point
    • Develop and maintain a world class monitoring and alerting infrastructure
    • Work closely with other teams to ensure data accuracy and relevance
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders.
    • Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies, systems engineering and architecture standards and strategies to increase reliability and manageability and provide training
    • Support and maintain application configuration items following the program’s official Configuration Management Plan
    • Ensure all work is supported by appropriate documentation (incident, service request or project tickets)
    • Create proactive monitoring services to capture and report availability and performance trends
    • Communicates changes and outages to appropriate stakeholders

    Qualifications

    Required Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent job experience

    Desired Certifications:  MCITP: Microsoft Certified IT Professional or MCTS: Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist

    Skills Required:

    • A minimum of 2 years’ experience with monitoring solutions with Solarwinds monitoring tools
    • Experience building and maintaining applications in a multiplatform environment (Windows Server, VMWare and Linux)
    • Working knowledge of monitoring and alerting best practices
    • Experience monitoring service thresholds
    • Experience with Virtual server environments and configuring monitoring around systems
    • Advanced scripting skills
    • Data manipulation and extraction skills
    • Demonstrated knowledge of the following:
    • Server configuration, provisioning and management.
    • Knowledge of application servers.
    • Knowledge of capacity management
    • Experience with database connectivity
    • Experience with file replication or messaging systems
    • Good understanding of security issues surrounding applications
    • Knowledge of networking and storage a plus
    • Knowledge of computer security systems, applications, procedures and techniques
    • Highly motivated and self-driven, capable of working with little instruction to resolve demanding tasks
    • Experience working in an enterprise datacenter environment
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to plan, prioritize, organize, schedule and execute assignments
    • Strong analytical skills, with strong problem-solving capability
    • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
    • Ability to lead moderately complex initiatives and solutions
